Hola chicos! We are all having a blast here in Costa Rica. My group started off with many long, muddy, buggy, but great jungle hikes, and when we say jungle, we mean THE jungle. Tarzan jungle. We all slipped at least once. I slipped and fell in the hole made from the roots of a giant tree. We were all able to laugh and shake it off. That has been the best part of the whole trip, bonding with each other. Some of us have been friends since kindergarten and some are brand new, but you would never know. We have all meshed and truly taken on the Costa Rican phrase "Pura Vida" and become a family. We always have each other's backs and have grown together immensely. After our various adventures in the jungle, we all went to the village Tres Equis. I was paired with Catherine H, and we had the best family. We left them this morning and Catherine and I, along with our family cried. Seeing the relationships within the village truly inspired us to appreciate what we have so much more. They live so simply but are constantly overwhelmed with joy. They loved having us and hated to see us go. But those are memories we will all share forever. We have ties to the land and ties to the people and that will be forever. I can't wait to go zip lining and repelling and see what the rest of the week has in store for us!
