We began our adventure soon after checking into our hotel in Puerto Viejo. All was calm in the world until approximately 11:47 pm. We were having a lovely little chat when we were rudely disturbed by our new enemy Barbara. Barb is a bat. We proceeded to shriek and flee to the bathroom because that seemed like a good plan. Mal. Mrs. Caruk came bounding across the hall and assured us that we would survive the ordeal. Barb has not yet been sighted a second time.
This morning we had a more peaceful experience. We went spelunking throughout the backyards of the locals for our "smash and sniff" tour. Then we went on our 4 hour hiking excursion throughout the jungles of the Caribbean coast. We were champions and braved the jungle with ease. David however didn't have our skills and took many a tumble in "Peter Blue's water shoes". Meanwhile Mr. Rice was shining bright like a diamond on la playa. We had a brawl in the kayaks with David and Matthew but we won because they are weak. Our paddling skills were supremely synchronized while they were being careless and taking head shots to each other with their paddles. We were the best.
Upon our return to the home quarters, we discovered that our bed was covered in ants. Needless to say we handled the problem efficiently. Today has been a marvelous adventure and we are looking forward to more walking tomorrow.
