Las tortugas candados (Group 2)

Greetings from the Carribean Coast!!
Group 2 has been bonding ever since we began our 5 hour ride to Puerta Viejo. We have experienced everything from singing vendors in gas station parking lots, teaching people to swim, eating termites, and enduring some freezing cold showers during the past 24 hours of our stay. Our group is named "las tortugas candados," the lock shell turtles, due to the intertwining,close-knit relationships we have formed with each other. The turtle part is in honor of our awesome group leader, Lizette, who works with turtles in other parts of Costa Rica. Our other guide, Gancho, is super cool as well. We enjoy having bus parties or "las discotecas" listening to the red hot chili peppers, Gancho favorite band.
Costa Rica has been treating us quite well these past two days. This afternoon we spent a lot of time swimming and playing on the beach as well as kayaking, hiking, eating exotic fruits, and sloth hunting! We ate dinner tonight at a place called "Jungle Love" whose owners were from San Francisco. It was quite a relief to communicate in English for a bit:)
The very chill and relaxed synergy of the Carribean region has really taught us to slow down and take in the beauty of what's around us. Nonetheless, it's still fun to slide open the windows of our maroon autobús and yell "Pura Vida!" To anything and anyone that passes by.
I can't wait for the rest of the week!! The best is yet to come. Tomorrow is snorkeling and zip lining- how thrilling!!
Bye for now!
And S/O to Zan, Blakey, Mom and Dad-I love you all

Pura Vida,
Chapman
