From MAsh..

Considering its only Tuesday, I think all the students would agree that there's been a major mood change due to the amazing trip to Tres Equis for the home stays. We headed to the village for one of our first real activities and had no idea what to expect. Not only were the families touching but their simple lives were an inspiration to all. They showed us how easy we have it at home and that we should truly appreciate our family, which I feel is the true core of their community. Every night in our group meetings we all say our high and low points and yesterday when we left everyone's low point was saying goodbye. It was amazing to see all the non Spanish speaking students communicate with their families and create a strong bond with their parents. The best part for me was during free time we all played futbol (and some basketball....mostly the guys) and literally all the kids played with us, whether we could actually communicate or not. Overall having the home stays first has really affected us and made us appreciate every little thing ....such as hot water and a comfy bed. Until next time, Pura Vida! -Mary Ashley
