Group II Day 2

We're back at our hotel getting ready for our dinner after covering a lot of ground hiking and paddling through the rainforest.

After a quick breakfast of local fruits, pancakes, and toast, we hit the road. We split into two groups and followed Tino and his son Michael around the jungle as they pointed out useful plants and animals we were missing.

We had fried plantains, fish, shrimp, and calamari for lunch and then set out for our afternoon of sea kayaking. On this adventure we paddled down an estuary that fed into the ocean which was lined with trees full of howler monkeys, spider monkeys, and sloths. We have gotten to see some incredible new things and it's hard to believe this trip has barely begun.

Our group with Tino went into a cave that had a pool in the middle that had a tunnel that connected with the ocean. One by one through the waves, we swam out to the ocean under the water in the tunnel. Frightening for all at first, but highlight of my day.

Today was epic! I almost died! While ocean kayaking we went through a cave! While trying to go through the cave our kayak was smashed by a huge wave. Edward and I hit a wall and almost flipped! I'm so glad we didn't. I can't wait for the adventures to come. Love you mom & dad! Miss you Jacob!
